A SMALL TRIP TO ODESSA, UKRAINE

Some old photos I found from a few years ago when I roamed about a bit in a neighborhood called Eastern Europe. I have an earlier post from Odessa…which I loved.

Love the food in that part of the world. Especially borscht (sp?).

Sick. Can’t sleep. Stomach hurts. Read an entire biography of James Madison. Stop whining. I’ll turn on Aljazeera for awhile, see how the world is holding together. Here’s a little photo spread of a few years ago in Odessa, Ukraine. I have some better photos I think;  these were taken with an old cell phone. Odessa is a beautiful city and seems to have missed the worst of this violence. I hope.

Black Sea, extremely polluted. When I stuck my foot in disgusting things floated around my toes.

Strange and wonderful candies.

Loved walking these streets. European but eastern and seafront and somehow a little exotic and sometimes shabby.

  1. Reblogged this on Today X 365 and commented:

I will be posting only to Time and Place, mneset.wordpress.com until October 20. Please add to your notification list.

  2. Can’t blame you for being nervous about the big trip at this big bad time. But I’m guessing as soon as you step onto that plane the bad news jitters will disappear and you’ll re-kindle your familiar juicy travel anticipations like a pro. Keeping up with your kids might be the main challenge you’ll have, haha.

I hope you all have a safe and successful trip….and try to be nice to any Republicans you encounter in case they have to bail you out.
    Bon voyage everyone!
