2017. THERE AREN’T WORDS TO DESCRIBE…

SOMETIMES I IMAGINE I’M DEEP IN A SCRATCHY FOREST OF TWISTED BEINGS CALLED ‘TRUMP-BELIEVERS’ AND I TRY TO CLAW MY WAY OUT…BUT EVERY BRANCH GRABS AT ME AND PULLS ME FURTHER FROM THE FRESH AIR OF REASON. PLEASE TELL ME I’M DREAMING…

Well, yes, there are words. But if we’re talking nationally and, to some degree internationally, they are not pretty words. If we focus in on DC they’re the really bad words our mothers did not allow us to say. So instead of thinking about the negative stuff, let me close out my Time and Place blogging year with a few words about New Mexico and some family photos.

I am happy to be home from my 2017 journeys—which started in DC last January with the Women’s March and ended about a month ago flying home from Delhi, India. I’m even relatively happy that home is in New Mexico. So we are poor and ramshackle and dusty, but we’re also politically progressive (mostly), geographically interesting (almost everywhere) and culturally idiosyncratic (to the max).

HOME AND FAMILY: ROBERT AND MARSHA RENTED A HOUSE IN THE NORTH VALLEY FOR THE WINTER…WITH A BIG RUNNING YARD. AND THERE’S NO DOUBT…THE FAMILY HAS TRULY ‘GONE TO THE DOGS.’

SARA CAME OVER AND BAKED A BIRTHDAY CAKE FOR HER BOYFRIEND.

CHRISTMAS AT STEVEN’S HOUSE.  DOGS RULE OF COURSE… MICHELE’S SPIKED HER COFFEE…

  1. So nice….family and dogs and being outdoors….not in the scary woods….and New Mexico my very own Land of Enchantment. too cold for that in Delaware, 10 degrees tonight. Too cold to even walk in the mornings. Oh well, can Spring be far behind? I will just look at your photos and be happy for you…Happy New Year Marjorie
